Contract award

CHAP Construction will be providing the essential refurbishment work needed to bring the new centre up to a high standard for the community. This will include upgrading the existing facilities, creating new spaces for the various programs, and ensuring that the centre is fully accessible to all.

Commenting on the project, CHAP’s Pre-construction Director, Andy McNair, said: “We are proud to be selected as the contractor for this important project, and we are looking forward to working with the Lighthouse Support Centre to create a new facility that will provide vital support to the community. Our team has extensive experience in refurbishing community spaces, and we are committed to ensuring that the new centre is a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone.

John Merson from the Lighthouse adds: “After almost 20 years serving the local people from rented premises, we are delighted to now have a permanent home of our own in the heart of the community. Ownership of the building and our planned refurbishment will mean we can do more for the people of the area, both in growing our existing groups and services, and introducing new activities. We are so grateful to Aberdeen City Council for their collaboration and support in the Community Asset Transfer process - thanks to the Council and our many volunteers, partners and supporters, the Lighthouse future is bright!”
